World Taiji and Qigong Day

Held Annually, on the last Saturday of April from 10am to Noon there are local celebrations of Taiji and Qigong in almost every Time Zone across the Globe. YMAA Taijiquan of Wisconsin has been hosting this event for the past 20 years. If you would like to learn more about the global event, feel free to check out their website: www.worldtaichiday.org and look for us in Milwaukee in 2025. Free and open to the public, no previous experience necessary. Your participation is encouraged.

Doors will open at 9AM. At 9:30 there will be a special 1/2 hour Qigong set led by guest Tai Chi Chuan Instructor Robert Thoreau.
At 10 AM there will be World Tai Chi & Qigong Day 2025 Opening Announcements, followed by Taijiquan Demos made by YMAA Tai Chi students. Guest Martial Arts practitioners will also be put on a list for possible demonstrations.
At 11AM Audience members will be invited to participate in Five Animal Sports. They may sign up for various teams, including Tiger, Ape, Bear, Bird and Deer. At 12PM Closing Announcements will be made, all activities will end and drawings for Door Prizes will begin.

Five Animal Sports/Qigong for Health
Do you ever enjoy watching videos of wild animals portrayed in their natural element and admire how they stay healthy under harsh natural conditions? Would you like to learn some gently stimulating exercises that help you dissolve stress and tension and regulate your natural body functions towards a normal state? 5 Animal Sports is a Classic of Traditional Chinese Qigong that will help you to do just that. The movements, which embody the essence of the Tiger, Deer, Bear, Ape and Bird are linked to the Liver, Kidneys, Spleen, Heart and Lungs and are designed to help soothe and restore your system, without fancy equipment or grueling workouts. 5 Animals Sports is similar to Taiji, but more repetitive. It employs graceful movements that allow you to tune into specific inner dynamics of your body. Each of the Five Animals is associated with a pair of organs and the Qi Meridians that connect to those organs. Five Animal Sports is movement based medicine, which supports improved circulation of the energy system. See the table below for some of the correspondences:
