About Angela Laughingheart

After a knee injury curtailed my dance career, I was introduced to Taijiquan at Yang’s Martial Arts Headquarters while living in Boston in 1991. Upon returning to my hometown of Milwaukee, I trained on my own and healed my knee through the practice of Taiji Qigong.
I began to pursue Martial Arts Training as a semi-annual student at training camps in Boston, Hungary, Poland, Portugal and South Africa. My lifelong pursuit of movement for health and wellness was satisfied by the extensive array of martial art forms and Qigong practices associated with Taijiquan, including Meditation training.
In 2003, I obtained basic certification and opened a provisional branch School, YMAA Tai Chi Ch'uan of Wisconsin. Starting in 2019, I resided at the YMAA Retreat Center in Northern California for 2.5 years, doing independent study in Taijiquan and Qigong. I am currently accepting students to join me on this journey of self awareness, Martial and Spiritual discipline. I intend to pursue excellence in these at any age and encourage others to share in the experience.
